WHY NESTING ELM?

some might ask... where did this come from? what does nesting elm photography mean?
nesting elm photography is a dream that is finally becoming a reality.

I believe that words have meaning beyond our understanding at times.. in my spare time, which isnt much, i like to look at the meanings of words and names.

while searching and testing out different names for my photography business, i wanted my name to be unique and me. while my personal name means, Pure Light, you can imagine the amount of people who use that name for their own business.

I love nature and trees.. there is something so calming and comforting to me about them. when you think of trees, you might forget how much trees are a part of our everyday lives...

that tree that you and your love scribbled your initials into, the tree that you hung your first family tire swing from, the tree that you spent hours under reading and eating family picnics... not to mention that most trees weather any storm that comes their way..

i wanted my business to represent this... adapting to the seasons, being a strong foundation for precious memories to be captured...

nesting is a word that makes my face instantly brighten. there is just something so peaceful and graceful about a birds nest. hundreds of tiny branches, twigs, and leaves pieced together to make a home.

when pregnant women are getting ready to have their babies, they go through a "nesting" phase of getting everything prepared for their bundle of joy, so that they can take time to enjoy and spend time with their precious child.

i wanted my work to have that effect on my clients, friends, and family. so when they look through photos, their faces can instantly brighten and joy can be found in their hearts from the memory of that photo...

elm trees represent and mean strength and intuition.

"elm wood is valued for its interlocking grain, and consequent resistance to splitting, as well as resistant to decay"

now that might sound a little morbid... but really think about it.
I want my photos to be timeless..

nesting elm photography...
a dream to capture life and joy
in a moment of time that is timeless,
with a strength that will never cease to exist.
